Moodbidri, Mar 24: Oscar Fernandes, Union Minister for statistics and Programme Implementation, inaugurated the computer centre of St Thomas Kannada Higher Primary School at Alangar here on Thursday March 23. The building was donated by Infosys Ltd.

A classroom costing Rs 2 lac was also funded from the MP Fund of Oscar Fernandes.

Speaking on the occasion, Oscar Fernandes said that students must be taught love for the nation and when required must be prepared to give their lives for the country. He recalled the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh as March 23 was Martyrs’ Day.

Fr Vincent D’Souza, correspondent of the school, blessed the premises. Sr Martha, headmistress, welcomed the gathering.


Present on the dais were Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, Gafoor, president, Udupi Congress (I), Valerian Sequeira, Stephen Mendes, Florence Mendes and Sr Stella, headmistress, English Medium School.

P K Thomas, member of management committee rendered the vote of thanks.
