Udupi, Mar 24: Nothing seems to have died down in the Nagarjuna Thermal Power Plant issue at Nandikur here. The massive agitations against the setting up of the thermal plant although seem to have mellowed down, but the undercurrents still exist.
The epitome of such oppositions was the burning down of the site office of the thermal power company. The episode which triggered protest from all quarters soon died down.
Giving a new twist to the episode is the complaint by the Nandikur Jana Jagruti Samiti to the Udupi superintended of police accusing foul play by the police.
The complaint by a delegation of the Nandikur Jana Jagruti Samiti was addressed to the SP on Wednesday March 22 in which the Samiti has accused the police of misleading the investigations by registering false evidences.
The delegation has also demanded for stringent action against the erring police officers.
According to the report by the police Parashuram had telephoned Balakrishna Shetty the executive president of the Samiti who is in Dubai from the shop belonging to Lakshman Shetty in Nandikur. It also states that Balakrishna had instructed Parashuram to burn down the site office.
The Samiti has alleged that this information was fabricated as Parashuram was in Mumbai with some business engagements. Moreover on the day specified in the report, Parashuram reached Goa and was not in Nandikur.
The misleading by the police is a crime, the Samiti claimed and demanded for detailed investigation in the case.
The delegation also comprised of MP Manorama Madwaraj, president of the Samiti Lakshman L Shetty, taluk panchayat member Katpadi Shankar Poojary, Yellur GP president Yashwanth Shetty and many others.
