Moodbidri, Mar 24: On Friday evening, The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti here held a protest meeting against depiction of Bharat Mata in a poor light.

The protesters urged the government to ban the exhibition of anti-Hindu art works by M F Hussain, to take legal action and punish him. They also demanded that all awards and civil decorations like Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan bestowned on him be withdrawn. Women leaders who were present burnt an effigy of Hussain as a mark of protest.

Those present included local committee head Gopalakrishna Mallya, Vivekanand Shenoy, Bajrang Dal leader Sudarshan M, Suresh Kalattur, Mohan Gowda, Vandana Kamath, Shyamala Suresh, Sharada Devi, Jahnavi Pai, Manjula Ramanand Mangalore and others.
