Manorama seeks early appointment of DC

Udupi: MP Manorama Madhwaraj, in a letter to chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, has requested him to ensure immediate appointment of a deputy commissioner for the district.

The post has been lying vacant for quite some time after the transfer on promotion of T Shyama Bhat.

At present the zilla panchayat CEO himself is handling the responsibility of the DC, because of which situation the developmental works in the district had been hampered and the public too had been put to hardships, she has said.

State Youth Congress chief on district tour

Mangalore: Dinesh Gundu Rao, state president of the Youth Congress, will be on visit to the district on March 25 and 26.

He will arrive in the city on Saturday and pay a visit to Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari temple at 10-30 am.

At 12-00 he will attend a meeting of party workers at Suratkal.

At 4 pm he will visit Kudroli Shri Gokarnanath temple, followed by visit to the Bantwal (BC ROad-Jodumarga) office of the party and a vistit to Vittal Shri Mahalakshmi Shridhama Manila at 6 pm.

Staying overnight in the city, he will take part in a function at the Karavali College on Sunday, says the press release.

MESCOM MD on Akashvani Phone-in programme

Mangalore: S Sumant, managing director of the Mangalore Electricity Suplly Company (MESCOM - formerly KEB), will interact with listeners of phone-in programme on All India Radio, Mangalore between 5-30 and 6-00 pm on Saturday, March 25.

Consumers are invited to air their grievances by utilizing the opportunity, says a MESCOM press release.
