Udupi, Mar 26: The temple town of Udupi, which houses the famous Sri Krishna Mutt, awaits a grand event- the ISKCON Rath Yatra.
International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Udupi chapter, will take out a Jaganath Rath Yatra in Udupi on March 30.
Speaking to reporters, ISKCON, New York chapter president Ramabhadra Prabhu said that the programme has been organised to mark the 40 years of the foundation of ISKCON.
Paryaya Krishnapur Mutt swamiji Sri Vidyasagara Theertha will flag off the Yatra from Rajangana.
Shiroor Math swamiji Sri Lakshmeevara Teerta will bless the Yatra, which will also be graced by Sri Jayapataka Swamiji from Mayapura, Kolkatta. The spectacular event is likely to gather devotees from foreign countries too.
The Yatra will start from Gita Mandir at 2 pm and will pass through Kalsanka junction, city bus stand and K M Marg and then proceed to taluk office circle and back to Diana circle, Chittharanjan circle and reach Rajangana at 6.30.
ISKCON is also planning to build a temple in Udupi and is searching for a location.
