Moodbidri: ICYM holds bike rally to create awareness on blood donation

Moodbidri, Oct 30: ICYM Moodbidri Deanery in association with Rotaract Club Moodbidri and ICYM Taccode Unit recently organized 'Brahath Bike Rally,' a rally to spread the message of blood donation and eye donation to different parts of Moodbidri.

With an aim to create awareness on donating blood and eye and its role in saving lives, ICYM members and Rotaract members (DK district) organized a one-day bike rally to spread the message to different parts of Moodbidri DK district.

Flagging off the rally, Holy cross church Taccode (DK district) Parish Priest Fr Dr Mark Casthelino stressed on the importance of blood donation and eye donation. Stating that the ICYM Moodbidri Deanery will soon release blood grouping book of 13 parishes, he said that the people will get information on prospective donors in this book.

The rally kicked off at Taccode school ground and Kaikamba, Paper Mill, Mahaveera College, Moodbidri court, Mescom, Moodbidri Police station, JV Pai Hospital, Hanuman Temple, post office, Nagarakatte, Moodbidri private bus stand, Moodbidri Church, Circuit house, and other places. Youth from 13 parishes, ie over 200 youths took part in this rally.

Later all the youth gathered at KSRTC bus stand for the closing ceremony.

K Abaya Chandra Jain (youth development and fisheries minister, government of Karnataka) speaking on the occasion, said that there is a lot of misconception among people about blood and eye donation, which needs to be clarified. The rally is one such attempt, he said.

Fr Assissi Rebello, Jayaraam Poojary, ICYM Moodbidri deanery president Selwyn Jude Colaco Hospet, Rotaract club Moodbidri president Rtn Purandara Devadiga, Rotaract director Rtn Suresh Shetty, ICYM Taccode unit president Gladwin Pereira among many others were present.
