Pakistan to start talks with Taliban soon


Islamabad, Oct 30 (IANS): Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that negotiations with the Taliban are likely to start in the near future.

Homework in this regard had been done in consultation with all the stakeholders, he said while addressing participants at the 99th National Management Course for senior officers here Tuesday, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.

The minister said that the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) would be revived as a major counter-terrorism authority and coordination among all intelligence agencies would be improved by creating a joint intelligence directorate.

According to him, a rapid response force would be created, which would also have an air-wing to urgently tackle any terrorism-related emergency situation in the country.
