Bangalore, Mar 27: The Lioness Council Dist 324 D1 celebrated "International Women's day" on March 25 in Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya College here under the leadership of Lion R Chandrasena, District Chairman – Lioness Clubs and Lioness Kalavathi Phutane – associate chairperson Lioness council.

The programme began with a welcome eminent women achievers.

Additional DGP and Mysore Minerals Limited chairperson and managing director Jija Madhavan Hari Singh IPS was the chief guest of the day.

Educationist Dr Geeta Ramanujam, renowned vocalist Gaanakalashri M S Sheela, former city mayor Padmavati Gangadhara Gowda immediate past associate chairperson Saroja V Naidu MJF were the guests of honour.

 

District 324 D1 governor Lion M Aswathaiah inaugurated the function. Vice-district governor Lion T K Swamiyappan, MJF graced the occasion with his presence.

The programme began at 3 pm with 43 Lioness club members actively participating in it.

Ln Chandrasena in his welcome speech congratulated the 1,180 Lionesses for their yeoman's service they are to the needy and the downtrodden in all categories.

 

Lns Kalavati Phutane appreciated all the Lionesses for their dedication in service in spite of their family commitments.

Council secretary Lns Girija Rajaram read out the report in brief stating the Lioness clubs had done service worth 60 lac for the year to date.

The programme came to a close by 7 pm with a vote of thanks by council treasurer Lns Prabha Chandrashekar.
