Udupi, Mar 29: The Udupi City Municipal council presented a surplus budget of Rs 1.08 crore for the year 2006-07 at the council meeting held here on Tuesday, March 28.
The total income of the city municipal council is expected to be Rs 13.3 crore whereas the expenditure of the council is estimated to be Rs 14.30 crore. The main expenditure of the council is listed as Rs 35 lac for streetlight maintenance, Rs 40 lac for water supply and repair work, Rs 10 lac for drainage system, Rs 30 lac for solid waste management, Rs 10 lac for building repairs, Rs 1 crore for road development and Rs 4.5 crore for payment of pending bills of civil construction works and installing streetlights.
The city municipal council has made estimation of incomes that it will get through self assessment wealth tax which amounts to Rs 2.50 crore, water bills Rs 1 crore, development fee Rs 30 lac, building construction license Rs 25 lac, trade license fee Rs 8 lac, account transfer Rs 20 lac, rents through hiring buildings Rs 55 lac and developmental grant expected from the State Finance Commission Rs 2.5 crore.
