Rohit Sharma powers India to 383/6


Bangalore, Nov 2 (IANS): Rohit Sharma's magnificent double century powered India to 383 for six against Australia in the decider of the seven-match series at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here Saturday.

Rohit Sharma (209 off 158 ball) became the third cricketer, previous two being Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, to score a double hundred in ODIs.

The Mumbai right-hander also broke the record for most number of sixes in an innings, smashing an unprecedented 16 sixes.

Shikhar Dhawan (60) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (62) also chipped in.

Xavier Doherty was the pick of the Australian bowlers, taking two wickets for 74 runs.
