Swedish embassy to celebrate Tagore's Nobel centenary


New Delhi, Nov 4 (IANS): The Swedish embassy will celebrate the centenary of Rabindranath Tagore's Nobel Prize in Literature from Nov 8-16, an official statement said Monday.

The embassy will organise a series of events during the Nobel Memorial Week which will begin with a panel discussion on Tagore, India's first Nobel laureate.

The embassy has commissioned famous sand artiste Sudarshan Pattnaik to create a sand sculpture of Tagore in Puri beach in Odisha.

"This will be unveiled on Nov 12, the eve of the day that Tagore's prize was announced in 1913," the statement said.
