Mangalore, Nov 5: “Food, water, education, are the basic rights of individuals and no government can deny that. Even after 66 years of independence, the Congress has not implemented food security for people until recently. Keeping in mind the forthcoming election, it has passed the food security bill which is helpful to only 67 percent of people in the country,” said A K Narayan, member, CPI(M) Kasargod District Committee.

He was addressing the ‘Alternative Political Meet’ here at NGO Hall on Monday November 4.

“Presently, the country is facing strong economic crises because of the UPA unscientific economic policies. The food grains purchased by the government are not reaching the common working class. Instead it becomes the assets of capitalists. America has thrown eight lac workers out and the UPA and the BJP are trying to bring the same capitalistic policies here. The water resources which are meant for drinking are charged tax by this government. People already experienced with the corruption of Congress and BJP governments need to look for another alternative front which will really work with common interests.”

He added that in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, communist activists should work sincerely for the ideology of the party.

Munir Katipalla, district president of DYFI, said, “A few people are under the illusion that if Modi becomes Prime Minister all problems of this country will be sorted. The media once hyped the Congress and brought it to power now it is now doing the same for Modi. Karnataka BJP has no face because of corruption instead they are working with the face of Narendra Modi. Modi is a person who could not get visa to America then how can he lead the country? Even if NDA comes to power, it will support the capitalists just like UPA did in its tenure.”

Slamming the political representatives of the BJP and Congress parties for not supporting justice for Soujanya, Katipalla said, “BJP district president, 8 MLAs and MP have not supported the struggle against the brutal killing of Soujanya. MP Nalin Kumar has vanished from politics; he could not condemn the act. Even the Congress’s Janardhana Poojary comes with books of law to curb the struggle of the people.  Are these two people eligible to provide administration?”

Communist MPs like M B Rajesh and Karunakar will surely talk about Soujanya’s issue in the Lok Sabha.

On this occasion, Shankar Rai, CPI (M) Kasargod district leader, and K R Jayanada Manjeshwara, area communist leader, spoke on this occasion.

Vasudev Uchil, Krishnappa Kanchan, Bharathi Bolar, Dayananda Shetty, Shashi Shakthi Nagar, and Jayanthi B Shetty Bajal were present.
