Delhi jeweller's wife killed in robbery bid

New Delhi, Nov 7 (IANS): A jeweller's wife was Thursday afternoon strangled to death by five unidentified people inside her house during a robbery bid, police said.

Police said one of the robbers, disguised as a courier agent, entered the east Delhi Mayur Vihar Phase-III house of jeweller Ajay Gupta, who was at his jewellery shop at that time.

"His four accomplices also entered the house and strangled to death the jeweller's wife, Madhubala, when she resisted their robbery attempt," said a police officer.

The robbers locked the victim's two children - Himanshu, 14, and Himanshi, 9 - in a room before killing Madhubala, said the officer.

"We are yet to ascertain what valuables were robbed," he said.

"The victim's neighbours informed police about the incident," the officer added.
