Arafat's death 'unnatural', say Palestinian investigators

Ramallah, Nov 8 (IANS): A Palestinian investigation committee Friday said former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's death was "unnatural", Xinhua reported.

"What the (Swiss and Russian) experts have concluded gets us closer to the truth, but it's not the end of the way," said Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, the head of the investigation committee.

Tawfiq Al-Tirawi accused Israel of being behind the "assassination".

Swiss scientists, who analysed samples from the corpse of Arafat, Thursday confirmed the abnormal presence of radioactive polonium, but said poisoning remains a hypothesis, not a certainty.

Yaseer Arafat died at a French hospital near Paris in 2004. Palestinian officials hinted that Israel was behind the death.
