Sheila Dikshit, Harsh Vardhan file nomination papers

New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and her opponent and BJP's chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan Thursday filed their nomination papers for the Dec 4 assembly polls.

The three-time chief minister will seek re-election from her bastion New Delhi while four-time MLA Harsh Vardhan will fight from the Krishna Nagar constituency.

"I am confident that the Congress will retain power in Delhi," she told reporters after filing the nomination.

BJP leader Vijender Gupta also filed his nomination from New Delhi constituency. Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvinder has also announced that he will contest from the same constituency.

Dikshit reached the divisional commissioner's office at Jamnagar House in central Delhi around 1 p. m. A large number of supporters had gathered to greet her.

Wearing a crimson sari, Dikshit had a tough time navigating her way to the office as photographers and supporters surrounded her.

It took her around an hour to complete the nomination process.

As she emerged, over 100 supporters waiting at the entrance of the divisional commissioner's office, began shouting slogans.

Her political secretary Pawan Khera, son and MP Sandeep Dikshit and daughter Latika accompanied the chief minister.
