Two policemen arrested in case of man burnt


New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS): Two Delhi Police constables were arrested in connection with the burning to death of a 50-year-old man here, police said Thursday.

Rajkumar and Surender, constables attached to the Neb Sarai Police Station in south Delhi, were arrested Thursday evening after having been questioned by the Crime Branch officials of Delhi Police.

The case relates to the death of Uday Chand, who was found with grievous burn injuries near his home at Neb Sarai last Saturday. He had sustained 90 percent burn injuries, and died undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital Wednesday.

Chand's family alleged that he had been harassed by two policemen, who tried to extort money from him for parking his son's autorickshaw.

The family had demanded the arrest of the two policemen.
