Mumbai, Nov 17 (Mid-Day): Heads of Departments of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), whose employees haven’t declared their property details for uploading on BMC’s portal, might end up missing out on their salaries. A circular issued by the BMC’s General Administration Department (GAD) mentions that Heads of Departments (HODs) whose employees haven’t given their property details to the BMC, should not get their salary with immediate effect.

The circular issued last month states that every employee, working with the BMC in Grade A and B category, with a grade pay of Rs 4,300 and above, will have to submit their property details. The details of the property should include details like the area of the flat, location, the exact address, whether the flat was on loan, and whether the employee had taken permission from the BMC commissioner before buying the flat.

According to a Right To Information (RTI) application filed by activist Amit Maru, who had asked for details of officials who had given their property details to BMC, claims that the RTI showed that nearly 28 engineers of the 70 in BMC’s Development Planning Department, hadn’t submitted their details yet.

Maru told SUNDAY MiD DAY, “The new circular from BMC says that HODs will not get salary if their employees submitted their details. But in the case of Development Planning Department, Chief engineer Rajeev Kuknur himself hasn’t submitted the details. How can we expect details of his department in such a scenario?”

A source from the BMC claimed that Kuknur did submit the details but they have been misplaced somewhere. However, the claim could not be corroborated. Kiran Achrekar, deputy municipal corporation, GAD, wasn’t available for comment.
