Ceramic whistles, bright lampshades attract at Thai pavilion

New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS): Rechargeable charcoal deodorisers that keep your refrigerator and shoe rack smelling good, ceramic whistles in the shape of birds, and brightly-coloured hanging lampshades. The Thai pavilion at the Trade Fair has a range of attractive knick-knacks at affordable prices for visitors.

The Thai pavilion is in Hall no 18 at the Pragati Maidan.

The deodorizing charcoal, in the shape of a sea shell, is available in different colours and flavours.

"This is something unique which we have brought this year. It is a very clean and easy way to hygiene and is not at all harmful," Ting, the exhibitor representing the Moon Shadow Bangkok Ltd, told IANS.

"It just costs Rs.100 and is available in plum, rose, jasmine and lavender flavours and can be easily re-charged by placing under the sun," added Ting.

"I think this is a very useful way to maintain hygiene and the best part is it is so cheap," Aanchal Mehrotra, a homemaker at the pavilion, told IANS.

Ceramic whistles available in the shape of birds are a big hit with children, and many kids could be heard blowing them.

"This is a very different kind of whistle, the sound it produces is different and when you put a little water and blow, it produces yet another kind of sound," said Suan Mung of the Pasha Seth Intertrade.

The whistles are available for Rs.100 and can also be displayed as a showpiece in the house.

Bright red, purple, green and orange hanging lampshades made of polypropylene plastics are selling like hot cakes at the pavilion.

The lamps are priced from Rs.250 to Rs.1,000.

An array of candle stands - placed on the stomach of the Laughing Buddha and in the hands of Lord Ganesha - are attracting a lot of curious customers.

"The candle-stands and decorative articles have been moulded from scrap metal and then painted in gold colour," James Ngamboi of Zen Forum Co. Ltd told IANS.

The candle stand prices range from Rs.350 to Rs.3,000.

The Thai pavilion is always a major attraction for its fashion jewellery and accessories. This time too they have not disappointed with their variety and affordable pricing.

The collar necklaces, tiara-type head jewellery, brooches and bags are also crowd pullers.
