Goa Police in Delhi to quiz Tarun Tejpal

New Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS): A special investigation team of Goa Police Saturday reached Delhi to quiz Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal and collect evidence in connection with the rape case filed against him.

The Crime Branch team of Goa will visit the Tehelka head office in south Delhi's Greater Kailash-2 to obtain intra-office correspondence between Tejpal, managing editor of Tehelka Shoma Chaudhury, and the victim, a junior employee of the magazine, police sources said.

The Goa Police contacted senior Crime Branch officers here in Delhi, who will aid in investigations. The police will also visit Tejpal's residence in Jangpura in south Delhi.

The victim claimed that Tejpal had sexually assaulted her at a Goa resort Nov 7 and 8, during the magazine's Thinkfest event.

Tejpal, 50, was accused of sexually assaulting a junior colleague twice in a hotel elevator during the high profile conference. A case of sexual assault was registered against Tejpal in Goa Friday.

The First Information Report was filed suo motu by the Goa Police Crime Branch officials under Sections 354 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deal, respectively, with criminal use of force on a woman and rape.
