Mumbai, Nov 25: “I am privileged to foster a bond among Tulu – Kannadigas settled in the western suburb of Kandivali, being the president of Charkop Kannadigara Balaga Kandivali (West). I have grown along with the Balaga that is growing with the trust of members. Although I had to return to my town, I still yearn for the progress of the Balaga. I hope that the Balaga becomes a role model for other organizations by its yeomen service to the humanity”, said Bhaskar B Sarapady, president of Charkop Kannadigara Balaga Kandivali (West).
Bhaskar was delivering presidential address during the tenth annual general body meeting of the Balaga held at Hotel Sandhya, located near Hindustan Naka, Kandivali (West) here on Sunday November 24 morning.
The Balaga founder, Jaya C Shetty felicitated the most active and senior members M Krishna Narayan Shetty, Dasu Suvarna, Lata V.Bangera and Vanaja D Shetty on the occasion. Manjunat Bannur, Vijaya D Poojary, Jaya C Shetty and Shanta N Bhat read the citation letters. Talented students were distributed scholarships during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Jaya Shetty said that “Bhaskar Sarapady has greatly contributed for the progress of the Balaga. Bhaskar is a gem of a person, very active and virtuous”. Meanwhile, he expressed hope that the selfless services of Bhaskar will still be available for the rapid strides of the Balaga.
The honorary chief secretary M S Rao presented the annual report. The honorary treasurer Gowri Paniyady presented the annual accounts. Election for the new office bearers was held on the occasion.
Bharat Bank (Mumbai) Limited director Gangadhar J Poojary, Ramesh Payyaru, chartered accountant Vinay R Bhat, vice president Manjunat Bannur, joint treasurer Sadashiv C Poojary, women wing president Shanta N Bhat, Tanuja Bhat, Guruswamy Vijaya D Poojary, Ashanat, Veena Sarapady, Padmavati B Shetty, Krishna Amin, Nina P Shetty and others were present.
Silent prayers were offered for the repose of departed souls of members.
Ramya Gayatri rendered the prayers. The Balaga founder Jaya C Shetty welcomed the gathering. Joint secretary Raghunat N Shetty briefed on the building fund. M S Rao proposed vote of thanks.
