Mangalore, Apr 17: The achievement in the area of sanitation in Dakshina Kannada district has received praise from several quarters. The total sanitation campaign state director N T Abro has placed the district as a model in sanitation in the entire nation.
Indeed a matter of pride.
Abro, who was addressing media persons at Amtur here on Sunday April 16, had words of appreciation in the manner the toilets were constructed in places like Ira, Golthamajal and Panja villages of Bantwal taluk.
Out of the 54 lac toilets planned to be constructed in the State, 6 lac have already been constructed. However the achievements of DK district have surpassed the progress of all the districts, he said.
The district has a need for toilets for around 70,000 houses. With the construction of the remaining toilets, the district will be declared as district with total sanitation.
