Panaji, Apr 17: The Goa fire and emergency services observing the National Fire Service Week (April 14-20) at the department headquarters in Panaji.

To mark the week a grand function was organized at the headquarters. Director of goa fire and emergency services Dr P K John briefed about the important role of the fire force in the society in the emergency hours, may it be major fire, floods, accidents or any other emergency.

A one-minute silence was observed in memory of those who lost their lives while fighting fire and in emergency situations during the past year

Chief guest of the function, Goa chief secretary J P Singh had his word of appreciation and encouragement for the department. The fire personnel who worked their hearts out in the year gone by were felicitated on the occasion at the hands of the chief guest. Finally there was a series of demonstrations carried out by the fire personnels.
