Agra, Dec 3 (IANS): Debates, symposia, workshops, case discussions and guest lectures are among the events planned during a six-day annnual conference here being attended by over 6,000 orthopaedic surgeons from around the world.
The 58th annual Indian Orthopaedic Conference (IOACON 2013) will discuss and share the latest advancements, research and best practices in the field of orthopaedics. "Flying Sikh" Milkha Singh will address the conclave on its concluding day Sunday.
"The theme is to 'enrich, educate and empower.' This has been adopted to enrich and educate the orthopaedic practitioners in India and empower the patients with adequate knowledge of the available treatment methods," organising Secretary Sanjay Chaturvedi said:
He added: "This year's conference is particularly important as many hands-on skill courses have been organised in collaboration with international associations of high repute. We have worked very hard to ensure that the conference covers the latest developments in orthopaedic and trauma care."
Organising Chairman K.K.Pruthi said: "About 6,000 delegates are going to attend, which shows the great interest of the entire orthopaedic community in this conference."
The event is being organised by the Agra Orthopaedic Society under the aegis of the Uttar Pradesh Orthopedic Association.
The concluding session would also see the presentation of awards and the annual report, as well as the release of IOACON 2013 survey.
