Poll results indicate people want strong leaders: Sharad Pawar

MUMBAI, Dec 9 (PTI): The assembly poll results in four states indicate that people want strong leaders, NCP president Sharad Pawar said as he called upon Congress and other allies to ponder over the outcome which is being seen as reflection of anger against the UPA government at the Centre.

"Congress has suffered a jolt in the polls. Everybody, including Congress and us, will have to ponder over this seriously," he said in a statement.

"The new generation had a big role in this electoral defeat and their anger has been reflected through the ballot," he said in his reaction to poll results, which showed Congress faring poorly and BJP doing well.

Pawar emphasised on the importance of strong leaders, who can take quick decisions. "The ruler must be strong and one who ensures effective measures and also have the capacity to implement decisions taken," the Union minister said.

"People don't like weak rulers," the 73-year-old Maratha strongman said, adding other forces raise their head if people don't see administrators who have capability to implement the decisions they have taken.

Though Pawar did not take names, it was apparent that the NCP chief, who left Congress in 1999 to form his own party, was expressing his views on the current leadership of the UPA lead party.

"In this context the example of Indira Gandhi can be given. She used to implement decisions with vigour," he said. "That is why, during her tenure, this "jhola" class (people with NGO background) which offers free advise, were not there."

The "jholawalla gang" is putting forth new unrealistic ideas, which are having an impact on media and some people in the Government, Pawar said, without elaborating.

"In Delhi, the youth became restless after the Nirbhaya gang-rape case and sided with Aam Aadmi Party in a big way," the NCP leader said.

Any political party to perform well needed to have able A grade leadership and a assertive performer.Yes,Congress really misses able leader and the third grade leadership only think of controlling fourth grade people and not the first and second grade. Therefore the party has to find a first grade effective leader to control the party and perform best in the elections.Hope for the best.Thanq.

India wants change…. We want clean and impartial politicians/leaders. When His nephew was caught in some cases he did not punish him and he played politics to save him. Modi’s people were caught in snooping/killing cases Modi tried to save them. When telecoms cases Congress tried to save its people…..Most of the political parties are giving tickets to their own people. Not able people. These people want only old people. We don’t want such people, If AAP does what they promised the people that they will go against any corrupt than, we want like this young leader.

Congress should learn from this that they should always project popular leader as PM candidate and not a young dynasty leadership who never became a minister before.
Congress need to learn a lot from this for their future survival because there will going to be a lots of honest speed breaker parties in every state to defeat the corrupt politicians in every party.

    Mr. Gonsalves:
We have to throw Pawar out? I thought Congress already did that and ended up entering into coalition with Pawar's NCP? And who is this "we" you are referring to? Pests like Pawar cannot be thrown out...we have no option but to live with it as long as people like Sonia finds them charming enough to enter into coalition and offer Agricultural ministry. Image of Siddu cheering like our centuries old ancestor is still fresh in my mind. Can't you see his twisted mouth (literally)? In diplomatic terms one could term his overtures as "he plays his card carefully" but his moves are as twisted as his mouth.

Manmohan singh was never weak.He has served the country for long. PM cannot keep talking always there is too much of work to do and managing a country of a billion is no easy task.We have grown at an average of 7% year on year except 2013/12. FDI has been good for the last 9 years much higher then what NDA had.coalition politics compelled him to be defensive in some of his policy making.Again remember we also had a 5-0 sweep last year Himachal, Uttarkhand, Meghalaya,Karnataka and now Mizoram

    Dear Joseph
Very late enlightenment. Its bacse of the same Lallu, mullu, Damka Trimla Yaddhu, maddhu coalation (ULTA PALTA ALLIANCE) just to stay in power to hide the scams your Scamgress could stay in power all these while. Now you are realizing.

No chance, even the last moment freebies like SHaadi Bhaagya, NAREGA,Snoop dogg blah blah blah, 2002 blah blah blah, 1991 blah blah blah, communal violence bill, food bill, roti bill, kapda bill will not save your Scamgress's Doomsday.

Pappu is not a thorn for BJP but a big obstacle for Congress itself to go ahead anywhere from here. They are still not out of their so called "Introspection".

For your information the only 2 Muslim MLA's elected in Rajasthan assembly are from BJP not from KHANGRESS. People have woken up finally.

Sharad Pawar has even told Sonia Gandhi will lose the elections and the congress has won two terms. Later he kept quiet.
I like Chiddambaran, Kapil Sibbal, Digvijay Singhji Abhishek Singhviji Oscarji, Renuka choudriji,Manish Tewariji, Hariprasadji Sanjay Zhaji, Rahul Gandhiji and so many congress veterans.
They are the thorn and thaw on the BJP’s path.
Now we have to bring some new young leaders also into the politics.
We have to throw out Mr. Pawar.
The coalition is costing policy paralysis because these:
    Lallu, mullu,
    Damka Trimla
    Yaddhu, maddhu
Are thorns which paralysis policy making.

And, now ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Sharad Partially Paralyzed Pawar will deliver that strong leadership you bady wanted.
Having said that, Pawar whose name rhymes with Power is a seasoned and shrued politician who was close to power to the best part of this adulthood. He strongly criticized the dynasty politics and formed NCP wherein Supriya Sule and her husband has a major stake. If that is not all, there is also one Ajit Pawar sharing the same genetic material also. He is a living example of how to criticize someone and still emulate those he criticised. His strong interest in cricket meant that he doubled up as head of BCCI and Agricultural ministry which he still continues to hold. Thanks to his indulgement in cricket he successfully made foray into indirect purchase of IPL teams. With all these contradictions that are well known, here is the latest from Sharad Power. At the least we should cheer and laugh at his latest joke.

You are a strong leader in UPA.But your policies did not favour common man.Your people in Maharastra looted crores of rupees those meant for irrigation projects benefiting the common man/poor agriculturists. There were lot of farmers suicide cases due to anti farmer policies of your people there.Every year your people make crores of rupees by the corrupt ways by persuing hoarding business of essential commodities. You and your people/policies no where near to common man,yet failed the analyse the failure of your party in the election.People who have no concern for poor farmers/shed crockdile tears should take political sanyas.
Congress circle at HQ is filled with lot of bandicoots,Chidu,Sibbal, yourself, diggy, Abhishek,Oscar,Renuka,Tewari, Hariprasad,Sanjay Zha etc., who are wrongly guiding the Congress President and VP Rahul.Hence the resent state of affairs.Wake up at least now to the reality at ground level.
