New Delhi, Dec 13 (IANS): Both houses of parliament were adjourned Friday for an hour soon after they met for the day's sitting after the members staged protest and started shouting slogans over various issues.
As soon as the Lok Sabha met, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj demanded Justice A.K. Ganguly's resignation as the West Bengal Human Rights Commission chief.
After Swaraj raised the issue, some MPs created a ruckus over various other issues, leading Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the house till 12 noon.
Protests began in the Rajya Sabha after congratulating Rajya Sabha member Sachin Tendulkar on being nominated for the Bharat Ratna.
Despite asking the protestors to maintain silence, the din was loud, making it impossible for the house to function.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Hamid Ansari then adjourned the house till 12 noon.
