Mumbai, Apr 27: Two unidentified persons arrived on a motorbike and shot at Anil Shetty (32), owner of Sai Veg restaurant in Bhayander late Tuesday night around 11-30 pm. He has been hospitalized in Mira Road with bullet injuries.
Anil Shetty is the son of Ramakrishna Shetty of Bailur in Karkala taluk of Udupi district.
The two assailants are said to have entered the restaurant and one of them pointed a revolver at Shetty. He responded jokingly why he was flashing a toy-gun while it was not Diwali time. The man immediately fired a round of bullets at him and both of them reportedly fled the scene the soon after.
Shetty was at once rushed to a hospital in nearby Mira Road. The motive for the attack is not known. He has never faced any extortion threats at all. On the other hand, his business has not yet grown to such a level as to invite the attention of any extortionists. He has no such enemies as would harm him this way, according to informed sources.
These factors have baffled both his close circles and the police who are investigating the case.
