Mamata draws up new calendar to keep abreast of targets

Kolkata, Dec 18 (IANS): Unveiling a slew of development projects for West Bengal's Nadia district, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday said her government has introduced an administrative calendar to keep track of set targets.

Banerjee said a target-oriented calendar would be issued to each of the state's 19 districts.

"Without a set target, no mission can ever be successful. We have introduced administrative calendars for that reason," she told reporters at Krishnanagar in Nadia district, about 130 km from the state capital.

The calendar, an attempt to improve the work culture in the state, is the brainchild of Banerjee. A copy of it has been provided to all state government offices.

People can also access information regarding progress of a particular project in their area by logging into the state government's official website.

She said her government would be generating employment opportunities for over three lakh people through various projects undertaken in the district.

In order to boost tourism in the area, a travel guide, "Untold Nadia" was also launched by the chief minister.

The Trinamool Congress supremo also unveiled an SMS service for information on mid-day meals.

Information on mid-day meals can now be obtained by sending an SMS to 54324 under the 'Aaloshree' scheme.

For special care of new born babies and mothers, Banerjee said a "mother and child hub" at a cost of Rs.16 crore would come up in the district within a year.
