Fog cover thins in Delhi, trains still affected

New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS): Air passengers may have heaved a sigh of relief with no flight being cancelled as the fog cover ebbed, but train services remained disrupted in the capital Friday.

Four trains were cancelled, 23 were delayed and 15 had to be rescheduled.

Trains from Delhi were not disturbed but those coming in from other parts of north India, which is witnessing dense fog, got delayed, said a railway official.

"The visibility was healthy today and no flight was disrupted," said an official of the Airports Authority of India in Delhi.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility at 8.30 a.m. was 300 metres.

Friday's minimum temperature was recorded at 11.6 degrees Celsius - three notches above the season's average while the maximum temperature was 19.7 degrees Celsius - three notches below the season's average.

The Met Office has forecast dense fog and partly cloudy sky Saturday morning.

The maximum and minimum temperatures Saturday are likely to hover around 21 and 10 degrees Celsius, respectively.
