Chilly morning in Delhi


New Delhi, Dec 21 (IANS): It was a chilly Saturday morning in the national capital. Many trains were delayed or cancelled due to the fog, authorities said.

An official of the Northern Railway said around 38 trains coming to Delhi were running late due to the fog and poor visibility.

The Northern Railway has also announced cancellation of 53 trains between Dec 21 and Dec 30 due to dense fog.

"There was shallow fog in the morning. The sky will be mainly clear but will become partly cloudy in the afternoon. The day's maximum temperature is likely to hover around 21 degrees Celsius," said an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official.

The minimum temperature Saturday settled at 12.5 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average. The Met Office has forecast a cloudy day ahead. The visibility dropped to around 600 metres at 8.30 a.m.

Friday's minimum temperature was recorded at 11.6 degrees Celsius - three notches above the season's average, while the maximum temperature was 19.7 degrees Celsius - three notches below the season's average.
