BJP accuses Rahul of hypocrisy on corruption

New Delhi, Dec 21 (IANS): The BJP Saturday accused Rahul Gandhi of hypocrisy, after the Congress vice president said the biggest problem faced by the country was corruption.

"You don't speak a word on the Commonwealth Games corruption, you don't say anything on Adarsh scam, and just say we have passed Lokpal bill. This is hypocrisy and only posturing," said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravishankar Prasad.

Asked about the likely rejig in Congress, he said: "When people of the country are eager to throw you out, cosmetic window-dressing is not going to help the Congress party."

At a meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Gandhi Saturday said the United Progressive Alliance government passed the Lokpal bill to fight corruption.

"The biggest issue is corruption. It is bleeding people. It is unacceptable," he said.

Gandhi also that though the UPA government has faced a lot of criticism, "it has done more to combat corruption than any other government".
