Johannesburg, Dec 22: India will start to feel the pressure if they don't bag some early wickets. The second new ball will be available in 6 overs. That phase of play will be a crucial one. Welcome back for the post lunch session.

But both de Villiers and du Plessis have survived a testing period and taken their side to lunch without any further casualties. Ashwin has bowled well to de Villiers and the offie is a key bowler as India look to win the Wanderers Test. He will be expected to do a lot of bowling in the post-lunch session. All three results are possible as a famous Indian commentator would say. Do join us soon for the next session.

So what a gripping session of Test cricket that was. Shami came out with all guns blazing and had Petersen in all sorts of strife, before dismissing him. Kallis survived a huge shout for lbw first ball and then settled down to play some brilliant drives. Together with du Plessis, he added quick runs and just as he was looking very good - he fell victim to a wrong decision from Rod Tucker. Kallis' wicket was the 300th for Zaheer and that opened an avenue for India.

India are inching towards glory at the Wanderers. For the hosts, much will hinge upon Alviro Petersen. In fact, their batsmen will have to perform in unison if they are to even salvage a stalemate. They are not the World Number 1 Test side for nothing. Expecting your company for what will be a corker of a final day. Until then, take care, adios.
Virat Kohli: 'Absolutely, I was very patient this morning. I wanted to build the innings, unfortunately I edged it. We are in a great positon. I enjoyed batting today. I was challenged in the one dayers. I knew there would be lot of short stuff, I did not practice much. I visualized and worked mentally for the challenge. I was in a right zone, I was sticking to the plan I had in Australia. Leaving the ball on the fourth stump was the most difficult thing I had to adjust. I had to feed that in mind. Pujara batted well. The first 65 balls he made only 9 runs. He scores big runs for us, that is his strength. It was good batting with him. After our wickets, we did not get a big partnership. Wickets falls in bunches in these conditions. When I got beaten or Pujara got beaten, we asked each other if we were in line. If we were in line and got beaten we were okay with it. You have to be in the zone to put the right balls away.'
Peter Miller tweets: 59 pence for a ticket for tomorrow...wish I lived in Johannesburg.
Chetan Narula tweets: Hashim Amla, after his first innings dismissal: 'There are worse ways to get out.' (surely he's got there now!) #SAvInd
Pat Symcox tweets: Another top innings from @GraemeSmith49 in the last innings of a Test.Gutted that he was run out....worked so hard to get the platform.
Samir Chopra tweets: Kudos to Rahane - still getting used to the idea of Indian fielders getting runouts with direct hits.
Mohandas Menon tweets: The longest South Africa has batted in the 4th inngs: is 117 overs (8-ball over) ie 936 balls at SCG in January 1964
Aakash Chopra tweets: During the 0-8 overseas drubbing India scored 300 only once in 16 innings...this team has managed it in its 2nd innings itself. Kudos!
Views from the twitterati:
Earlier in the day, Cheteshwar Pujara registered his fourth 150 score to fatten India's lead. Even as wickets fell at the other end, Zaheer's devil-may-care strokeplay saw India strengthen their position. The upshot was that India finished with a hefty lead of 457.
With Quinton de Kock, breathing down his neck, Alviro Petersen played a charming innings to keep South Africa in the hunt. South Africa's fortunes, albeit slim, are still alive. At this stage though, India have their noses ahead with the pitch playing tricks. A couple of balls have reared up alarmingly, while a few have kept low, sowing doubts into the minds of the batsmen.
Then, Shami delivered a short of a length ball that shooted low to rattle Amla's stumps, thus making a mockery of the latter. Faf, coming in ahead of an exhausted Kallis, stayed put with Petersen to steer the hosts to stumps without any further damage.
Its has been a riveting Test match, with each day surpassing the excitement of the previous one. After the tea break, Ajinkya Rahane showcased his agility to catch Smith short of his crease by a bullet direct throw. With Amla coming in, the Indian bowlers bent their backs and bowled short.
Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni share a few light moments. Not often does one see MS Dhoni beam in broad grins. Ishant and the other bowlers warmdown on the field.
