Congress, BJP won't be able to form government post 2014 polls: CPI

Chennai, Dec 22 (PTI) : Claiming that both Congress and BJP would not be able to form government at the centre after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, CPI on Sunday said efforts were on to forge a new combination of Left and democratic forces, including regional parties, to provide a viable alternative.

"While Congress will be unable to retain power at the centre due to people's anger, BJP will fail to form government due to its inability to win required number of seats," CPI National Secretary A B Bardhan told reporters here.

Optimistic about formation of a non-Congress and non-BJP combination, the veteran Communist leader said efforts for formation of a pre-poll alliance between Left and regional parties like BJD, JD-U and AIADMK should be stepped up.

Noting that many regional parties are not sharing power at the Centre, Bardhan said since they are anti-Congress and anti-BJP, the Left parties should try for state-specific understandings or alliances with these outfits.

Bardhan, who met BJD chief and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik this morning and held preliminary discussion on Lok Sabha polls, said Left parties like CPI and CPI-M should also try to increase their numbers and strength.

The recent assembly election in Delhi, where Aam Aadmi Party won 28 of the 70 seats, showed that people are searching for an alternative and steps must be taken to provide a viable option before them, Bardhan, who was here to attend CPI's

Odisha state council meeting, said.

He said an anti-Congress feeling has gripped the minds of the voters who have concluded that maximum volume of corruption had taken place during its rule. "People are also angry over poor performance of the UPA government in view of

economic crisis and inflation," the CPI veteran said.

"It is clear that power will slip out of Congress' hand in next elections and it will be an uphill task for the national party to win 110 Lok Sabha seats," Bardhan claimed.

To a query, he said poll prospects of Congress would not change even if Rahul Gandhi is named its prime ministerial candidate as such a declaration would only be a "formality".

Similarly, it would not be smooth-sailing for BJP though it would get more seats than it won in last elections in view of anti-Congress mood of the people, he said and claimed that BJP may manage 140 to 150 seats in Lok Sabha despite the hype created by many.

Dismissing suggestions that a Narendra Modi wave was sweeping in the country, Bardhan said hype has been created through a systematic campaign by big corporate houses, business outfits and capitalist forces who are spending crores

of rupees in a bid to push the Gujarat Chief Minister.

Maintaining that it is not Rahul vs Modi in next Lok Sabha elections as perceived by many, he said there is a wide choice before people.

Even in Rajasthan, where BJP swept the assembly polls, there was no Modi wave or magic, Bardhan said, adding that it was the people's anger against Congress which paved the way for change of guard in the state.

Congress should not be under the illusion that the minority votes, especially that of Muslims, would propel them to power once again as they did in 2004 and 2009. This time round it is likely to prove wrong as Muslims feel cheated. The non-implementation of Rangnath Mishra Commission and Liberahan Commission reports, and giving equal status to Muslims with other backward communities are some of the issues has been haunting the community over the years while Congress continues to look the other way.

The BJP has taken full advantage of the weaknesses of the Congress party, its wrong policies and due to its soft Hindutva stance which has hurt the interests of the minorities, especially the Muslims.

Congress and BJP are the two sides of the same coin and people are looking for alternatives. The arrival of AAP in a big way in Delhi elections has proved this. Therefore Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in future will emerge as an alternative at the national level to give good governance and clean administration.

All Left parties together got 18 seats in 2009 (11 in WB, 2 in Tripura, 1 in TN , 3 in Kerala & one in Assam) To think that they could improve on this position is very difficult as the numbers in WB can go down due to Mamata factor. But these crooks will be back at it again, with the 3rd front 4th front BOGEY! We all know what the left parties did during the freedom struggle! Turncoats & back stabbers

Why in hurry? Wait patiently till the 2014 polls are over. Probably the dishonest and criminal record holder parties will be discarded. Then we will see an honest working party for the people of India would form the govt at the center. Choose choose and the game would be played. Hold on until then. JAI BHARAT, JAI HIND.

After Arvind Kajriwal form the Delhi government and send few to the jail,(Congress Bjp) things will change miraculously.
    Anything is possible in politics.
I will not be surprised if Sonia approach AAP to send her own people to jail to prove she is actually not the culprit. In such scenario the situation would be dangerous for BJP.
The main reason of Congress downfall is corruption.
Man Mohan should have controlled the corruption first, before implementing his economic policies. The bottom line is MMS is responsible for the entire mess in Indian politics.
