Sibal launches IT training programme for backward rural women

New Delhi, Dec 24 (IANS): Minister of Communication & IT Kapil Sibal Tuesday launched a government e-initiative for creating a transparent and accountable governance model for enabling service delivery at the doorstep of citizens.

The 'E-Inclusion: IT Training for Rural SC/ST/Women Beneficiaries' project is part of the government's initiative under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP)

The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) has set up over 100,000 Common Services Centres (CSCs) on a public-private-partnership (PPP) model in this regard.

CSCs are the front-end delivery points for government, private and social sector services to the citizens of India.

Speaking at the launch function here, Sibal said Digital Literacy is an enabler for empowering communities and providing them real freedom. The government initiative for making one person in every family e-literate is a step in that direction.
