Congress, Kejriwal struck deal: Gadkari

New Delhi, Dec 28 (IANS): A deal was struck between Congress and AAP party leader Arvind Kejriwal to form a government in Delhi, BJP leader Nitin Gadkari said Saturday.

Speaking at a party function here, Gadkari said that the Congress strategy was to prevent formation of a Bharatiya Janata Party government in Delhi and stop Narendra Modi from becoming the country's prime minister.

"A deal was struck between Kejriwal and Congress in a five-star hotel, a person (familiar with the development) told me," said the former BJP president.

Kejriwal took oath as chief minister Saturday.

The Congress, which has eight legislators, is providing outside support to the Aam Aadmi Party, which won 28 seats in the 70-member Delhi assembly. The BJP has 31 seats. The remaining three seats are with the Shiromani Akali Dal, the Janata Dal-United and an Independent.
