Wet New Year's eve in Agra

Agra, Dec 31 (IANS): It is going to be a wet New Year's Eve in this Taj city.

The rainfall till Tuesday morning was around 3 mm, the authorities said, adding that more was expected.

The night temperature was 2.4 degrees Celsius.

"The green lustre is back, as trees have been washed and the Taj Mahal too looks sparkling," commented travel agent Amit Sisodia of Agra Beats.

"It is going to be a wet New Year's Eve. The hotels are packed and we expect more people from NCR to join the celebrations here," he added.

Farmers from Bah and Pinhat areas said a white layer of frost had settled on plants.

If it continues to rain like this, there was fear of damage to the mustard and potato crop, said farmer Ravi.
