Ex-US first lady remains hospitalised


Washington, Jan 3 (IANS): Former US first lady Barbara Bush remains hospitalised in the Houston city of the US for treatment of a respiratory-related ailment Thursday, a family spokesperson said.

Mrs. Bush is "doing great and responding well" to treatment at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas state, reported Xinhua citing Bush family spokesperson Jim McGrath telling media Thursday.

McGrath said physicians may be exercising extra caution by keeping her at the hospital.

She was admitted to the hospital Monday for treatment of early signs of a respiratory-related issue, the office of former US president George H. W. Bush said in a statement Tuesday.

Wife of George H.W. Bush, the 41st US president, and mother of George W. Bush, the 43rd president, Barabara was admitted to the same hospital in 2008 for treatment of a perforated ulcer, returning in 2010 for routine testing, reports said.
