Cloudy, cold Thursday in Delhi, clear Friday expected


New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS): It was a cold, cloudy Thursday in the capital with the maximum temperature settling three notches below average at 18 degrees Celsius. The Met office has forecast a clear Friday with the temperatures remaining the same.

"The day will remain clear though there might be moderate fog in the morning," said an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official. Maximum temperature is likely to hover around 18 degrees Celsius and minimum around 6 degrees.

On Thursday, the minimum temperature settled a notch below average at 6.5 degrees Celsius. The fog that was witnessed in some parts of the city cut visibility of 500 metres.

According to the Northern Railway, 18 trains have been running late and 16 have been rescheduled.

Wednesday's maximum temperature was recorded at 20.7 degrees Celsius, average for this time of the year, while the minimum was 4.4 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average.
