Online voting system at Presidency University


Kolkata, Jan 14 (IANS): Students at the Presidency University here need not queue up to cast their votes in the next varsity elections, courtesy an online voting system that is on the anvil, an official said Tuesday.

Officials of the educational establishment are in talks to flag-off the initiative next year. A biometric identification number would be necessary to register the votes.

"We are planning to utilise a biometric identification number for each student. Their votes will stay recorded in the system," registrar Prabir Dasgupta said.

Students would be allotted a time-frame of 12 to 15 days during which the they will exercise their electoral rights.
