Chandigarh, Jan 16 (IANS): The Haryana government Thursday announced relief for electricity consumers in the state. The new rates would come into effect from this month.
Announcing the relief here, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said domestic consumers will pay the same tariff they paid before April 2013 when the rate was increased.
Hooda announced that agriculture consumers would pay 10 paisa per unit instead of 25 paisa per unit.
"As a result of these decisions, 38 lakh domestic consumers and 5.50 lakh farmers would benefit," Hooda said.
Hooda said the government has withdrawn the tariff increases made from April 2013 onwards for domestic consumers consuming up to 500 units per month.
The decision would provide a relief of nearly Rs.600 crore to the electricity consumers. Hooda said the state government would bear this relief.
