Indian-origin man likely to survive fall

New York, Jan 18 (IANS): A 30-year-old Indian-origin man, who fell from the tenth floor of an apartment building in the US, is likely to survive, police said.

The man, whose name cannot be disclosed until his family in India is informed, fell on a Nissan Altima car, smashing the front window and denting the hood in Stamford, Connecticut, at 1.20 p.m. Friday, the Stamford Advocate reported.

Police officer Diedrich Hohn said the man was immediately rushed to the Stamford Hospital where he was given a full body CT scan and diagnosed with two broken elbows and a broken pelvis.

Hohn said considering the height of the fall the man had surprisingly minimal internal bleeding.

"It looks like he is going to survive," he said.

"He was home alone and his door was locked from the inside. There are no signs of foul play," Hohn said.

"Once he comes to, we will talk to him and find out what happened."
