Eight killed in Pakistan blast


Islamabad, Jan 20 (IANS): At least eight people were killed and many injured in a blast in Pakistan's Rawalpindi city Monday, a media report said.

The blast happened near the general headquarters of the Pakistani military, Dawn online reported.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Windows of nearby buildings were shattered due to the impact of the blast, the report said.

The blast occurred one day after the Pakistani Taliban attacked a convoy of security forces in Bannu district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Sunday, in which over 20 security personnel were killed and 38 others injured.
