Al Khobar, May 15: West Coast NRI Forum, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia president Farooque Sabandari and organizing secretary Vishwanath Kamath met the union minister for NRI Affairs Vayalar Ravi on May 9 in the Gulf Le Meridian Hotel, Al Khobar during his recent visit to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The forum office-bearers thanked the Indian Government under the leadership of PM Manmohan Singh with support from Karnataka government for fulfilling the long-standing dream of upgrading Bajpe (Mangalore) Airport to international status.

The forum urged the minister to impress upon the Aviation ministry to pressure national carriers viz., Air India and Indian Airlines to start a direct flight to and from Dammam to Mangalore immediately. The ministers assure the delegation of all support to the forum's dream and make it a reality at the earliest.

The forum also requested the minister to start all regional languages including Kannada language in all Indian International schools of Saudi Arabia which step would benefit the NRI Indians' children returning to pursue education in India. The minister instructed the ndian Ambassador to effect the introduction of Kannada language in Indian schools without any delay. The Indian Ambassador promised to execute the request of the forum immediately.
