Shinde calls Kejriwal mad, AAP demands apology

Nagpur/New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS): Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde Wednesday called Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal "mad" for his two-day, under-the-sky agitation in winter rain in the capital. An AAP leader demanded an apology.

Shinde said he was compelled to cancel the leave of many Delhi Police personnel, on account of the agitation.

"This was because of the mad chief minister's agitation in the capital," Shinde said in his address at a function in Hingoli, 325 km from Nagpur.

"Because of the 'yeda' (mad) chief minister, I had to deploy thousands of policemen and cancel leave of many of them," Shinde said.

Anjali Damania, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Maharashtra, demanded an apology from Shinde for his comment.

"Is this kind of language acceptable to those pointing fingers at us," Damania asked.

However, the Delhi unit of AAP chose not to respond to Shinde's remark.

"Sushilkumar Shinde is a senior leader and we have no comments to offer on what he said," said AAP spokesperson Deepak Vajpayee.
