Bharti must step down: Binny

New Delhi, Jan 24 (IANS): Rebel AAP legislator Vinod Kumar Binny met Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi Friday and sought action against Law Minister Somnath Bharti for his vigilante action against Ugandan women during a raid in the national capital.

"The antics of our law minister has brought shame to Delhi and the country. The (Delhi) chief minister (Arvind Kejriwal) should have removed Bharti from his post by now, he must step down," Binny said after meeting Bassi.

"The commissioner of police has ensured me that all necessary actions will be taken in a time-bound manner and no special treatment will be meted out (to Bharti)," he added.

Binny also demanded action against Chief Minister Kejriwal and his ministers for holding the 36-hour protest here that led to several violent scuffles between Aam Aadmi Party supporters and police in addition to disrupting public life.

Four cases have been filed over the protest, though Kejriwal has not been directly named in any of the complaints.
