Former Rajasthan police chief new secretary of security


New Delhi, Jan 24 (IANS): Rajasthan's former police chief H.C. Meena has been appointed the secretary, security in the cabinet secretariat, an official statement said Friday.

Meena, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1976 batch, had been shifted as director general, jails after the Vasundhara Raje government assumed office in Rajasthan last month.

He was again shifted to the post of director general, home guard and civil defence a few days ago.

According to the statement, Meena's appointment would be with effect from the date he takes over charge of the post and last till his retirement on Sep 30 this year or further orders.
