Cong releases poll ad, BJP says it has 'copied' Modi

New Delhi, Jan 25 (PTI): Congress today released its first advertisement for the Lok Sabha polls, but main Opposition BJP targeted it saying the party has "copied" Narendra Modi's ad blitz at a BJP convention in 2011.

Rahul Gandhi is at the centrestage of the campaign 'Mein Nahi, Hum' (Not I, we) which appeared in today's newspapers.

Dismissing BJP's charges of plagiarism, Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza insisted that no one has sole proprietary right on words and ideas.

According to BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain, this is a phrase coined by Modi at the party's 'Chintan Shivir' in 2011 where he said 'Mein Nahi, Hum' to connect with the common man.

"Though Congress hates Modi, they like the phrase coined by him and use as their own slogan," he said.

He sought to find loopholes in the ad saying, "Although they have copied from Modi, they have not done so properly as the pictures of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party chief Sonia Gandhi are missing."

"It only shows the picture of Rahul. One can only imagine where the 'hum' are, it is only 'mein' (me) in the ad," Hussain said.

Oza said there is "no need for Congress to copy anyone".

"Just because someone says it is their baby,... (it is not the case," she said, adding that the Congress has always emphasised on "we" and has played inclusive politics.

"This is unlike the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP who often propagates the theory of 'I and me' and often forgets that he is part of the BJP," she said.

The Congress' main slogan is "har haath shakti, har haath tarakki", she said, adding based on the theme of self-help, the slogan meant "power in every hand; progress for everyone".

Apparently hinting at AAP, she suggested that the Congress was the first to talk of the aam aadmi plank 10 years ago.

Incidentally, the Congress punch line in the ad campaign of 2009 was: Congress Ka Haath, Aam Aadmi ke Saath (the Congress' hand is always with the common man).

The campaign in 2004 Lok Sabha polls revolved around 'Aam Aadmi Ko Kya Mila' (What did the common man get), a response to the BJP's 'India Shining' campaign.

It will be next to Impossible, to get total corruption free government body. All the five fingers are never same, so its useless to wish one. But there are some leaders/politicians who can head to tail, even in the midst of corrupted scumbags. As, for example, Gujarat has witnessed certain corrupted leaders in the past. But, when the Leader has committed to develop his state, then there's no one who can stop him. But in the present central government structure, we have no one who has the guts or mentally, to even try to stand against these corrupted scumbags. So, we need a "SOMEONE" who can do it..... Its Time For A Changeover of Power Holders, If We wish to breathe in a developed INDIA....... JAI HIND :)

Pappu's grand mother gave the slogan to her party as " Garibi Hatao".
Later on during Emergency her Party practically did -
" Garib Ko Hatao " . That is -instead of removing the POVERTY, Sanjay Gandhi removed the POOR only by Bull-dozing their houses in Delhi and resorting to forcible family planning.
So, now when Pappu says 'Not I but We' does he mean to say I will not eat alone, but WE all Congis will share the Bribe Amount ?

please stop these debates on who has copied/spoken what... just focus on who has done what for a better country that we all INDIANS desire and deserve. We should not forget, that after 2002, Gujarat is still a curfew free state. There is no reports of any clashes between any community in Gujarat after 2002. And also keep in mind that Gujarat is the fastest developing state in our country. So, if NAMO can do, what he did to Gujarat just by 15%, then undoubtedly we all will have a golden INDIA by the end of next 60 months. Then why not give him a chance he is asking for. If Gujarat becomes India, then no INDIANS will die due to hunger. THINK BEFORE U ACT/SPEAK .

BJP can say anything they want OR make an issue out of it.....No one can stop them because they want to be "In News" with the media to break Mr. Kejriwal's media popularity.

The point in this advertisement is...there are similar words or let's say absolute similarities!!!.

Mr. Modi always boasts of "Me", "Mine" or "I" factor and he mean it for the next coming "General Elections". One can watch his various election campaign speeches and come to a conclusion!!!.

Whereas Mr Rahul Gandhi has always said or used the word "We"!!!. One can watch his electoral speeches and come to a conclusion.

In U.P recently Mr. Modi challenged in his electoral speech to Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav that "Only Mr. Modi" can bring in the type of change & growth of Gujarath in U.P!!!

Well played communal card( Muzaffarnagar Riots ) thru Mr. Amit Shah & company in U.P!!!

...And now Mr. Modi is appeasing & convincing the minority community to get votes for his party. Intersecting...

Congress is bereft of any original ideas. They believe in borrowing or stealing. Each of their spokes persons talk irrelevant and high handedly. Even the insulting defeat in the just concluded state elections has not taught them any lessons. I pity the congress party where experienced stalwarts bow down in front of an utterly inexperienced novice just because he has inherited a famous surname. Otherwise he is a big Zero and if he comes to power it will be like giving a free hand to his brother in law the infamous Robber wadhera to complete the unfinished business of looting the country under the guidance of his darling and most corrupt mom in law Sonia and all the other chamchas of the severely communal congress party. They have ruined the economy terribly and have pushed the country in a regression mode.

I wont be surprised if they will regain the same as 2009..

After all one of their leader is just 10th fail, yet holds FAKE CERTIFICATE from Cambridge University. The other leader holds a master degree in Cocaine Management. All educated, capable leaders are sidelined in their party.

In my view the actions of yester BJP and even modi were from the styles and functions of congress copied and followed under different voice of accusing only. It is a very friendly quote taught in Public relations parlance to say ' not to say I but say WE'. therefore the criticism is meaningless.
