Kannada film industry calls for bandh

Bangalore, Jan 27 (DHNS): The Kannada film industry has called for a bandh on Monday to voice its protest against dubbing of other language films into Kannada.

Briefing reporters, film industry members said the main intention behind the bandh was to save the Kannada film industry.

Producer Sa Ra Govindu said: “We will hold a protest at the Mysore Bank Circle and no films would be screened at theatres across the State. Many Kannada organisations will join the protest.”

Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj stressed the need for unity among artistes during the protest. “All artistes should come forward and protest against dubbing. A few producers are indulging in pro-dubbing activity and we will not allow them to succeed,” he added.

Actor Shivrajkumar said films are a part of culture and there is no need to project other languages as culture of Kannada. He also urged litterateurs to take part in the protest. Kannada film personalities Ravichandran, Yash, Jaggesh, Gurukiran, Pooja Gandhi, Srinath, Bharathi among others were present.

    Its quite immature to say here to bandh the industry.Language is ,was n will be identity or signature for every Indian state.If no Kannada or its films,probably Karnataka would lose its statehood.Gradually, it ll be divided into Tamil kannads,mallu kannads,maratas,etc.If u dont like to watch fine do not watch,but plz don't say its good to shut down kannada films.At least i do not want that happen.i love my state n its language even though its not my mother tongue.Jai ho
    Watch old Kannada movies, especially Ananthnag.They are so meaningful.

    In fact, now 60% of the film theaters in interior Karnataka are owned by Tamilians, Telugus or North Indians like Gujaratis, Sindhis . Kannada film industry wants only outsiders to make huge investments in building theaters and then suffer loss by screening Kannada films. If at all Kannada film Industry really loves Kannada language, then let them open their own Theaters in interior Karnataka and reserve it for screening only Original Kannada films and enjoy the profit or loss depending on the quality of their own films. Why outsiders should make the investment and suffer loss ?
    Even small child do not likes spoon feeding after a certain age. Then why Kannada film Industry still wants spoon feeding even after fully growing up ?

    I strongly disagree with some comments here. There r lot of Kannada movies recently which performed well at the box office and audience too. It may be true that the remake is the curse which renders film industry, but true talent needs commercial support. This will stop completely if dubbing peeks in. Lots of artists and labours will be jobless. Also last most if us denounce Kannada and Kannada films , some people even ashamed to talk about this. Let's not forget these Kannada films we cherished since our child stood and we should continue to do so. Government has to ban both dubbing and remake.

    Simple problem if the movies are dubbed they can't remake the film..ravichandran, jaggesh, sudeep most of the movies are remakes of Tamil or Telugu.. Let them live stop dubbing

    Instead improvising- innovating ideas and to bring to the mainstream - k f is following the same old fashioned story line with poor budgets, poor technology poor writers poor musicians poor directors all in all its a junk which is beyond the repair
