Labourer's torture: SC notice to Andhra, Odisha


New Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS): Taking suo moto congnisance of media reports that the hands of two migrant labourers had been chopped off in Odisha, the Supreme Court Monday issued notices to the state government, as also to Andhra Pradesh, where their contractor was based.

The notice is returnable in four weeks.

An Andhra-based labour contractor and his four henchmen allegedly chopped off the hands of the two migrant workers December 2013 after they refused to work in a brick kiln in Chhattisgarh.
