IAEA inspectors in Iran to visit Gachin mine

Tehran, Jan 28 (IANS): International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors arrived here Tuesday to visit Gachin mine in Iran, an official said.

Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said the three- member group would leave Tehran Wednesday for Bandar Abbas in Hormuzgan province to inspect the mine in the provincial capital city, reported the official IRNA news agency.

The inspection will take place in line with a six-point agreement reached between Iran and the IAEA officials Nov 11, 2013, for further cooperation between the two.

The agreement was signed by Ali-Akbar Salehi, head of the AEOI and the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano in Tehran. Based on the agreement, Iran allowed the IAEA experts to inspect Arak heavy water facility and Gachin mine.

The IAEA inspectors will leave Tehran for Vienna, Austria, Wednesday night after returning from Bandar Abbas.

Kamalvandi said the IAEA inspections to the Iranian sites were "organised", adding, "in the meantime we will observe their considerations".
