Kerala Facebook slander case: Police official suspended

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 28 (Agencies): A day after a 27-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly over some obscene messages which were posted on Facebook page by her relative, the Sub Inspector of Cheranallor police station was suspended for not acting on her complaint.

The police will seek the help of the cyber cell to find out if there were any such posts or messages on her Facebook and mobile phone and if there were any other reasons for her suicide.

The accused, Rathiesh, however, has claimed innocence. He told the police that he had not sent any messages to her phone. Rathiesh said that the victim's brother had posted some comments defaming Rathiesh's family and he only replied on that post.

He said that both their families were not in good terms for a long time and that he was being framed. He also alleged that some issue between the victim and her husband might have led her to take the extreme step.
